RAVELRY

What is Ravelry?

It’s all the talk over at Knitting Help and on just about every knitting blog that I visit. Knitting Help (a knitting community it’s self) has a Ravelry thread.

Ravelry is an online knitting and crochet community craze, which appears to be a lot of fun. It seems that knitters can’t stop talking about them.

I have resisted joining this community because I couldn’t find a reason to join. I’m on Knitting Help most of the time and blogging and both have been meeting my needs. So, am I missing out on something? Will it take away from the time I spend at KH? Will it make me stop blogging? Well, I’ll never know if I don’t join. So I'm:

You are #127744 on the list.
5111 people are ahead of you in line.
1328 people are behind you in line.
94% of the list has been invited so far

I was once on the waiting list; but by the time I was invited to join, the thrill was so far gone.

I can't remember when I joined, but I rarely go there. If I had the patience (and internet time) to actually use the service, I imagine it would be nice. But to date, the thrill and interest in Ravelry has yet to return to me.

"The wait is what killed it" is what I keep telling myself.

It probably won't 'take away' from your time with KH as much as you would need to 'share' your KH time. I guess the end result is the same, but just a different mindset. Notwithstanding, I don't think it would be difficult to balance the two. Ravelry might be a tad redundant depending on how you use KH and the fact that you blog; but ... can you truly have 'too much' networking? ;)
